The Book Giveaway You Have to Give Away

As promised, it's time for the first weekly giveaway of Back to School Month 2010.  This giveaway is a chance to get the digital version of my new book, Teaching is Not a Four Letter Word: How to Stop Worrying and Love the Job.  All you have to do is tell me who you're going to give it to when you're done reading it, and why.  The most compelling explanation of who you'll share it with and why will win.

It's important to me that my work gets in the hands of people who need it, even if that means giving it away.  So I'll be picking one winner daily, starting today and ending next Wednesday 8/11.

Three** options to enter:
  1. Leave me a public tweet on Twitter (mention @teachforever09 and include the hashtag #contest)
  2. Leave a message on our Facebook page with the same tag.
  3. Post your who and why in the comments section of this post.
Please include the tag!  Enter as many times as you like between now and Wednesday, 8/11.  I'll be contacting winners for their email address each day, so make sure you're check the page where you entered every day this week!

Winners will be announced daily in the comments, on Twitter and Facebook.  No entries will be accepted via email--you know where to go!

**I added the option of leaving a comment since Twitter and Facebook are often blocked at schools, and I certainly don't want to keep educators from entering.  Good luck!

Mr. D,

Is it possible for me to just send you an email or post a comment here? Twitter and Facebook are both blocked by our school district's firewall. Let me know. I sure would LOVE to win a copy of your new book.

Mr. Neibauer, you make an excellent point. I am going to amend the rules and make comments here another way to enter.

After I read it, I plan to pass it on to my daughter, an education major who plans to teach.

After I read this book, probably a couple of times, I plan on forwarding an e-copy to everyone in my Elementary School. I am the youngest teacher in the building and unfortunately, I see a LOT of burn out. I see teachers who have a resistance to change with the coming times of technology, or race in schooling/education, or education reform, etc...

I see teachers sit in the lounge and complain about this kid or that; this parent or that; our principal. I want to inject some renaissance into our school. I want teachers to remember why they began teaching. I think many teachers (not all), get caught up in the grind and lose sight of the big picture. That is why I am so excited to read this book and help spread the word. Thanks for this opportunity!

I think after I read your book, I'll pass it along to the three other teachers in my building who are as burnt out as I am...maybe then we can go to happy hour and discuss your book, rather than talk about how to get out of teaching. :)

After I read your book I would "book talk" it during our professional learning community. We are a community of rural poverty and an uplifting message can be few and far between. Reviving the burn out in some of our most seasoned teachers and re-kindling a flame for any educator is so worth sharing. I would hope that after presenting the book I would have educators asking me to forward it on to them.

I love all of these entries, but it's time to pick Thursday's winner:

Mr. Neibauer!

Please contact me with your email address at teachforever AT gmail DOT com and I'll send the digital version right away.

Don't fret if you didn't win, all of your entries are still eligible for the rest of the week!

After 20 years of teaching at our town's high school and loving (most of) it, I would really like to read what you've written and then share your book with my colleagues who dread the first day of school, as well as all the others each year.
