I am new to using a document camera. I have found when my first graders need to complete a math test, they sometimes lose track of where they are. I use the document camera and we go through the test together, I point to the problem we are working on so I am testing math skills not reading skills.

I like my document camera. I use it on a daily basis for sharing student work. My students love being in control of the camera and what content is emphasized. The document camera has provided my students with a great tool to differentiate their learning and instruction. Moreover, the feedback is instantaneous.

Think about using the DC for alternative assessment and e-portfolios. You can capture student work and place directly in their folder on your desktop. Students could also be interviewed explaining their work. Also check out the new AVerMedia 355AF. It has audio and video to capture all podcasts, interviews etc. The sky is the limit:)

Amanda: I did forget to mention that when I was moving the camera around to show different angles during my PD workshop, my colleagues absolutely loved being on camera (the same reaction I used to get from my students). There is no quicker way to get their attention than to put them on the big screen!

I like to use a document camera as a way to share student work. This use helps me avoid having them make the giant posters so everyone can see their work/ideas, and avoids all the time (& potential copying errors) spent copying a problem or idea to the board. Brilliant!

Now I just need to write a grant to get one in my new job . . .
