My generalization came from my experiences in nearly all of the places I&amp;#39;ve worked, where counselors were either unhelpful or downright harmful, especially in terms of making schedule changes for any reason.  I don&amp;#39;t think students who are in a good school with the kind of counselors you mentioned need my advice at all.  This was for the kids and their families who are stuck in schools where the system is broken and maybe even working against them. It reminds me of people who paint all teachers with some particular negative characterization. It makes them sound irrational.
