Mia: At that grade level, you can have your daughter practice her multiplication tables by tossing down cards two at a time. Then you can raise the challenge making red cards negative and black positive, increasing the number of cards, and so on. I've written about some ideas like this before, but keep your eyes out for another follow-up pretty soon.

Thanks for the great tips! I used a deck of cards to practice math facts with my oldest daughter (now in 6th), but haven't used them in a while. Sometimes, I think we become too reliant on the computer for math practice rather than taking the time to do it ourselves and interact with our children.
