But I think you can overcome your science shortcomings. Science was never my strength either and I usually broke out in hives when I had to come up with an activity to do with my class. But then I attended a teacher training seminar put on by Steve Spangler and he showed me that science doesn't need to be scary or a disaster.

It can be simple or complex but you (yes even YOU) can do it with your students with fabulous results. Try this experiment - test UV rays from the sun using special UV beads. Start inside, go outside. DONE. A simple experiment you can't mess up. http://www.stevespanglerscience.com/experiment/00000118

Here's a link for the teacher training if you are interested - http://www.stevespanglerscience.com/teacher_training/

Why was a student covered head to toe in his own f...

Why was a student covered head to toe in his own feces?

The seeds will sprout better in the dark because s...

The seeds will sprout better in the dark because seeds are supposed to be in the soil, where it's dark.

Once there are leaves, then you put it in the window.

Great stories. They remind me of why I teach high school rather than the little ones. :) In Video Production/AM News, we had a mouse crawl across the set. You could see the student anchors' eyes follow it across the room as they tried their best to stay focused on the announcements for the day. We closed out the show with one girl, thankfully off-camera, standing on a table trying to muffle her own screams.
